Gacurabwenge Sector has been crowned the best performer in Kamonyi District after achieving 100% of its 98 performance targets for the 2024/2025 fiscal year.
Executive Secretary Martha Umugiraneza said teamwork and accountability were key to their success. “When we sign the performance contracts, we commit to them as a team with staff and partners. If one staff member is absent, another steps in to ensure no gap is left,” she told Intyoza.com.
One of the toughest targets, she noted, was the new “Byikorere” program, which requires citizens to request at least 20% of public services digitally, without going through Irembo agents. Limited access to smartphones and computers posed challenges, but the sector still met the target.
Umugiraneza highlighted the role of citizens in the achievement: “They are our key partners, and most of these goals were achieved together with them.”
During an event at Kamonyi District headquarters, Gacurabwenge Sector received the top trophy, winning over 95% of all prizes awarded. Runda Sector took second place, while Kayenzi ranked third. Several villages and development partners were also recognized for their contribution.
The ceremony also included the signing of 2025/2026 performance contracts between the district and all sectors.
