As part of his official visit to Azerbaijan, Rwandan President Paul Kagame paid tribute at the Alley of Honor memorial in Baku, where he laid a wreath in memory of Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s third president, and his wife Zarifa Aliyeva.
Kagame also honored the country’s national heroes who fought for Azerbaijan’s independence and sovereignty, laying flowers at their memorial sites.
The ceremony took place on Saturday ahead of Kagame’s bilateral talks with President Ilham Aliyev, which focused on deepening friendship and strengthening cooperation between Kigali and Baku.
Kagame stressed that Rwanda sees Azerbaijan as a trusted partner, noting that the new agreements and state visit provide an opportunity to accelerate development and cooperation.
