A tragic incident in Mukingo Sector, Nyanza District, claimed one life and left another person hospitalized after an explosion linked to the brewing of kanyanga, an illegal local brew.
According to local reports, two men aged 35 and 36 were preparing the illicit drink in Kigarama village, Nkomero cell, when the mixture overheated and exploded. Police and RIB officials intervened immediately.
CIP Hassan Kamanzi, Police Spokesperson for the Southern Province, said the incident highlights the dangers of illegal alcohol production. He called on citizens to avoid such risky practices and to collaborate with authorities by reporting offenders.
