At the third graduation ceremony of the Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture (RICA), Prime Minister Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva urged the 83 graduates to use their education to solve national challenges and create opportunities for citizens. The event, held on September 19, 2025, was attended by government leaders, families, and partners of the institution.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of agriculture in Rwanda’s development, pointing to the country’s National Strategy for Transformation (NST2), which aims to increase production of staple crops by 50%. He said the graduates are uniquely positioned to drive this change by promoting modern, market-oriented, and sustainable farming practices.
He further commended Howard Graham Buffett, the visionary founder of RICA, for his tireless efforts to improve agricultural education. Through the support of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation and the Rwandan government, RICA has become a hub for preparing skilled leaders who can champion innovation and rural development across the country and beyond.
