In a move to promote environmental conservation and improve household welfare<\/strong>, 20 families from Byimana Sector<\/strong> in Ruhango District<\/strong>, Rwanda, have received 3,000-liter water tanks<\/strong> and energy-saving stoves<\/strong>. The initiative is expected to ease the burden of daily chores, reduce firewood consumption, and protect the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Relief for Women and Households<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Many of the beneficiaries had previously struggled to access clean water and relied heavily on firewood for cooking, which consumed both time and physical effort \u2014 especially for women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Theogene Nyirinkindi<\/strong>, one of the recipients, shared:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cThese tanks will help us water our crops and provide water for our animals. The new stoves also use less firewood, which is a big relief.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Violette Ayinkamiye<\/strong>, a mother, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cFetching water and cooking with traditional stoves was exhausting. These tools are a game-changer for me as a woman. My workload at home will reduce significantly.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Each eco-stove cuts firewood use by up to 80%<\/strong>, making cooking faster and more sustainable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who Made This Possible?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The support was provided through the \u2018Protect the Environment, Protect Your Life\u2019<\/strong> project, spearheaded by R\u00e9seau des Femmes<\/strong> in partnership with ACORD Rwanda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fortin\u00e9 Twiyubahe<\/strong>, a representative from ACORD Rwanda, emphasized:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese families used to struggle with collecting firewood and cooking for long hours. Providing these tools directly addresses their daily challenges and promotes efficient household work.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Xaverine Uwimana<\/strong>, Director of R\u00e9seau des Femmes, noted:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe rainwater tanks don\u2019t just provide clean water \u2014 they prevent soil erosion by harvesting rainwater, and they help promote sanitation and hygiene.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Government Applauds the Effort<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Sarah Delphine Mukabadege<\/strong>, Ruhango District\u2019s Partnership Coordinator, thanked the NGOs, highlighting that the initiative solves core community challenges:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis project is not only providing materials \u2014 it\u2019s also changing mindsets. It reduces conflict within families, many of which were caused by ignorance and resource scarcity.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Project Impact<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The \u2018Protect the Environment, Protect Your Life\u2019<\/strong> initiative currently supports 20 families across two villages in Byimana Sector<\/strong>. It focuses on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
