The Rwanda National Police (RNP) operating in Zindiro Cell<\/strong>, Bumbogo Sector<\/strong>, Gasabo District<\/strong>, has arrested Nzamwita Aim\u00e9 (38)<\/strong> and his wife Nyirarukundo Frotin\u00e9e<\/strong> for allegedly producing and distributing unregulated alcoholic beverages<\/strong> (locally known as “Liquor”) to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arrest Operation and Attempt to Destroy Evidence<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

According to CIP Wellars Gahonzire<\/strong>, the Police Spokesperson for Kigali City<\/strong>, the couple was apprehended on Thursday, July 31, 2025<\/strong>, following a tip-off from concerned citizens and in collaboration with other security agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the arrest, Nzamwita was found at his residence. His wife, realizing that her husband had been detained, allegedly attempted to destroy evidence<\/strong> by setting fire to their bed and an internet router using Supanet fuel<\/strong>, intending to destroy incriminating materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPolice officers quickly intervened and began extinguishing the flames. They were supported by the Fire and Rescue Brigade (FBR), which managed to contain the fire,\u201d CIP Gahonzire stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Unregulated Liquor and Property Damage<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Upon a search of the premises, authorities discovered:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • 624 bottles<\/strong> of illegal \u201cLiquor\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 20 liters<\/strong> of raw alcohol stored in a plastic jerrycan<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The illicit product was being sold under the fake brand name \u201cOne Sip Gin\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    The fire caused substantial property damage. According to police reports:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Authorities say the couple violated multiple laws, including producing food or drink unfit for human consumption<\/strong>, falsifying product labels<\/strong>, and endangering public health<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \u201cThis is tantamount to poisoning the population,\u201d CIP Gahonzire stressed.
      \u201cWe will not tolerate such reckless behavior. These practices destroy lives and violate existing laws.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

      The police urged the public to continue reporting suspicious or illegal activities in their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
